How it works
One expert, one subject, one evening a month. You listen, you ask, you eat.
- 6:30DoorsCheck in, find a seat, order, meet people.
- 7:00Warm-up quizFifteen minutes of questions on the evening's theme. Starts on the dot.
- 7:15The talkAbout 50 minutes, then questions from the floor.
- 8:30Last questionThe session ends on time. Most people stay on for dinner.
The basics
- When. Usually the last Thursday of the month. The date sometimes moves to suit a speaker or to dodge a holiday, so go by the announcement.
- Where. Wynkk, on ITI Road in Aundh. Map.
- Who it is for. Anyone curious. Speakers are asked to assume nothing beyond high-school science, and there are usually a few school students in the room.
- Cost. A ₹300 cover charge per person, paid when you register. It comes off your bill at the venue, for anything on the menu.
House rules
- In person only. There is no livestream and no recording, ever. You have to turn up.
- Chatham House Rule. You may repeat what you heard. You may not say who said it. This lets speakers and the audience talk freely.
- We start and end on time. The quiz begins at 7:00 whether or not you have arrived.
- Talk to one stranger before you leave. The talk is the excuse; meeting people is the point.
Questions people ask
Do I have to drink? No. The cover charge can go towards food or anything else on the menu.
Can I bring my children? Yes. There is no age restriction.
Will it be recorded? Can I get the slides? It is never recorded. Slides are shared only when the speaker offers them, and then only inside the WhatsApp community.
How do I get a ticket? Each talk is announced first in the WhatsApp community, and members get two or three days to register before the link is posted anywhere else. Seats are limited and most talks sell out in that window, so join the community.
I have a ticket and cannot come. Tickets are not refundable, but you can pass yours on. Post in the General group of the community; someone usually wants it. Send them your QR code and ask them to give your name at the door.
It says sold out. Can I just walk in? Usually not: the room has a fixed number of seats. Occasionally we announce walk-ins on the day in the community.
Where do I park? There is self-parking in the basement of the building (level −2); the turn is tight for big cars. Otherwise, ITI Road and its bylanes.
Tickets go to the community first. Every talk is announced on WhatsApp a couple of days before anywhere else, and most sell out in that time.
